Renovating opendoor.com

Challenge

Each month, more than half a million people visit opendoor.com, intrigued by the idea of a radically simplified home sale. The problem is that many of these people leave without requesting an offer for their home, even though it’s free and comes with no obligation to sell.

Process

We surveyed potential home sellers to better understand what they want to know before requesting an offer. Once we knew their top questions, we rethought the content of the page to answer those questions in a clear, concise manner.

I was responsible for everything from outlining and sequencing the information on the page, to putting the final touches on each sentence.

Results

The new page drove a 7% increase in the number of people who requested their Opendoor offer—an immense improvement. Visitors also scrolled further down the page, and entered their address faster than ever before. When it comes to content, your customers will often guide you towards the right answers. You just have to listen.
